database won't repair itself

I have a problem in that I can't open my entourage as it says that there is a problem with the database and to rebuild. I do so and it gives me the same error message each time I try to open entourage. Very frustrating. Anyone else running into this problem? Any way to fix?

Do you have backups? How far do you have to go back to find an Identity that
will open?

This article explains how rebuilding on a larger drive will work when it
fails on less free space. You would need to go back to the original to try
though. Once it's been munged during the rebuild, it's less likely that copy
will be recoverable.
