Is there a problem with the SAVEDATE field?

If I set up a field {SAVEDATE \@ "d. MMMM yyyy" \* MERGEFORMAT}
it only shows up as "0. XXX 0000" regardless of the date saved.

The display you illustrate is that created when the document hasn't been
saved. If the document has been saved, you will need to update the field.
Easiest way to do this - especially if it is in a header/footer - is to use
a macro attached to a toolbar button. You'll find instructions at
http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm. The field will not update
automatically.
