Dates Appear Different on Screen

I'm modifying a spreadsheet crafted by someone else. I'd
like to insert a different date than what is already
entered. However, if I enter 1/15/2001, it will appear
on the screen as 1/0/1900 although the task bars shows
1/15/2001. Regardless of the format option I get the
same result. The cell is named but is the input cell.

I've experimented on a clean sheet and don't run into the
same problem. Does anyone have any ideas?

delete that cell then insert a new one then set up your required forma
prior to inputing new data.

Thats what I would do

In the formula bar, do you really see 1/15/2001? Or is what you are seeing
=1/15/2001.

If the latter, check Tools/Options/Transition and ensure that Sheet
Options/Transition Formula Entry is DEselected.

Ron,

You are correct in that once the Sheet Options on the
Transition tab are deselected than the dates can be
entered and appear without the = sign.

Thanks,

Perry
