Daylight Savings Time shift still broken in Entourage 11.3.3/11.3.4; Mac OS 10.4.7

designr.2

Recurring events created before the upgrade to 11.3.4 still exhibit
the wrong time during the 3 weeks from 3/11/07 to 4/1/07. Updating the
existing series does not correct the problem.

Recurring events created after the upgrade to 11.3.4 work fine.

This suggests that we have to delete every recurring meeting created
before the 11.3.4 upgrade and replace them in order for the times to
display correctly.

This creates many issues in a large organization where many different
people schedule meetings. We can't just delete and resend all the 30
or so recurring meetings for each of thousands of users - that's
thousands of separate recurring meetings that must be recreated.

I thought MS said they had fixed this problem.

If your events are on an Exchange server then that means your Exchange
Server admins have not yet patched their Exchange Servers.

Part of the patching process will be to run a utility that will
essentially alter all calendar events in every account by one hour. Any
meeting invitations you have received and accepted will be resent to you
and you'll need to reaccept them.

If the above describes your situation then do not alter your events'
times. They'll be wrong after the server patching.

Hope this helps! bill

Thanks. We are on Exchange 2000 SP3. I will follow up with our

I'm not on a network, and I'm having this problem too.

After I installed Apple's Daylight Saving Update (for Panther), my
events in Entourage 2004 (updated to 11.3.4) were off by an hour. But
only in the calendar display. When the event itself was opened, the
times were correct.

I discovered that the time-zone preference in Entourage was set for
Perth rather than Hong Kong, where I live. I don't think it was set
for Perth prior to the Apple update.

I have now set it for Hong Kong, and this seems to take care of the
display problem for new events. Preexisting events are still
displayed improperly. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks.

Since you've discovered that your Entourage was set to an incorrect time
zone and you've basically entered all your information under the
incorrect time zone, I would think you'll need to manually adjust each
of the incorrect events. Going forward, obviously, shouldn't be a
problem.

I believe my Entourage was set to an incorrect time zone for only a
few minutes right after I installed Apple's DST Update. The problem
was immediately obvious. I don't think I entered any new events
during this period.

The events that are displaying improperly were input well before I
installed the Apple update. When I open them individually, I find the
time in each event is accurate; it's just that they are being
displayed inaccurately. Inside each event is a banner that reads:

Event time zone: Perth (Displayed)
Your computer's time zone: Asia/Hong_Kong

I had this same problem before Apple released its Panther DST update
when I briefly installed an unofficial DST update (from Ian Ward
Comfort at Stanford University <http://www.stanford.edu/~icomfort/
panthertz/patch-panthertz.sh>) . The problem disappeared as soon as I
uninstalled the unofficial DST update.

I'd gladly uninstall the Apple update, but I everything I read says
it's a must-have. My computer overall seems to be fine. The only
problem is with Entourage. Perhaps an 11.3.5 update would solve the
problem?

Thank you.

I have a co-worker with a very similar problem, everything except the
banner that indicates a discrepancy between time zones. In Calendar
view the event is displayed incorrectly while the time displayed when
you bring up that individual event (by double clicking on it) is
correct. It also syncs to a Palm device with the correct information.
This applies to new events as well as events that were created before
the DST update was installed.

We have an exchange sever, but this particular calendar is a personal
calendar and not one that stores information on the exchange server
(the cals that are don't have an issue).

All available updates have been installed for Office. Any more
information on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Best Regards,

Aaron
