Use the Mail applet in Control Panel to remove the inactive AOL account and
add the type of account you want.

went into control panel. found 3 AOL programs. delete all of them?

Now, where did I ever tell you to delete a program? I told you to open the
Mail applet and then remove the AOL accounts from the mail profile.

will that then allow me to open outlook and set up gmail, my new server?

Create the gmail account in the Mail applet as well. Set everything up
before trying to open Outlook.
