default address weirdness

Help!

I often send emails to myself-- road directions, etc.

For some reason Entourage is completing the beginning of my name with
an old email account so that rather than defaulting to
[email protected] it now wants to do [email protected]. i upgraded
to Office 2004 a few weeks ago.

I have deleted the att account altogether, and "[email protected]" isn't
even in my address book. "[email protected]" is the "me" account.
Why is it doing this?

I checked and it keeps completing the address this way even when I'm
sending not from comcast but from my hotmail pop account. I don't know
how to fix this!

Gwen,
Entourage remembers addresses of e-mails you've sent/received and stores
them in a "recent addresses" list. When you compose an e-mail and enter an
address, Entourage will automatically check both the address book and the
"recent addresses" list to automatically complete the address you're
entering. As far as I know, the number of entries in that list is limited to
200 or so, so if you don't use that account any longer, the invalid e-mail
address should disappear after some time.
However, if you want to get rid of it for good, go to Preferences, Mail &
News Preferences, and select the Compose tab. You'll see a section called
"Recent addresses", which contains a button called "Clear List". Hitting
that button will erase the "recent addresses" list, and you should no longer
see your old e-mail address. If you don't want to use that feature at all (I
for instance don't), you might as well uncheck the "display a listŠ" option
in that same section.

Michel,

OK I did that, and now the "[email protected]" address doesn't pop up.
Then I sent two emails to myself at "[email protected]." BUT it
still doesn't complete it correctly when I start with "gw..." but now
scans my address book and comes up with every other address that starts
with "Gw" (Gavin Witt etc) but not "[email protected]." Help! This
address is of course listed as "me." Is that the problem? As I said I
often use email (rather than stickies) to send myself little notes.
This is a pian.
