Default e-mail folder problem

I have never used Microsoft Outlook, but would like to.
When I try to open the program, I receive the following
error:

Unable to open default e-mail folder. An unexpected
error has occurred. MAPI was unable to load the
information service gwmsp1.dll. Be sure serivce is
corrected installed and configured.

Can anyone explain what I need to do here?
