Default File Location change

P

Polyprod

One of our managers has tried to change the default file location under
[Tools]-[options] . Unfortunately he typed in a / instead of a \ . Now I
cannot change anything under [Tools]-[options] I just get the message "Cannot
open location "T:/files".

Is there a file I can edit with something like notepad to just change the
setting "Default File Location" on th eGeneral tab of [Tools]-[options].

I am using Windows XP Pro (sp2) and Excel XP.

Any help appreciated.

Kevan,

If you're a sys admin .. login in as the manager and provoded you're au fait
with changing registry settings, there's a setting under HKEY_CURRENT_USER
In the registry under Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Excel\Options... it's a
string value called Default Path ... editing this to the correct path should
fix the problem. I've only got Excel 2003 to test against (Office 11) so I'm
assuming the registry construct is the same for Excel XP/2002, but this
should work.
