Default JPG Compression

How can I change the default JPG compression under FrontPage 2002? When I use
the Photo Gallery, it allows me to change the compression when I'm saving the
images but does not allow me to change the compression on the thumbnails.
It's set too low and the images are coming out with lots of noise from the
excessive compression. Any help will be appreciated.

Don't use FrontPage to compress image files, it doesn't do well.
Instead use an image editor such as the free IrfanView.

Don't compress the original image as much or at all prior to creating the thumbnail images, then
once done, then you can compress the large image. FP is has very basic image editor tools, best to
always work with image in a application that is designed to work with images.

Eleanor, can you use "self-created" thumbnails with the FP Photo gallery component? If not, then my
suggestion is the only option.

I don't, I use Photoshop for all that, but this is what happens:

When I create a Photo Gallery and thumbnails are created, FrontPage applies
its default compression to them, I always change the large images to 95 from
its default 90, but the thumbnails are compressed more and I can't seem to
find where to change the compression level for the thumbnails.

You can't. Don't compress them in PhotoShop, let FP compress them or don't use the Photo gallery
component and create your own thumbnail images.
