default sending and receiving separately

How to config the outlook 97 just to send the e-mail, not
getting the e-mail down from server at the same time?

Now when I want to send an e-mail, it must down load
(receive) all new e-mail first, then only the second
action is to send my e-mail out!

Thank you for yr advice.

I'm not exactly sure with Outlook 97, but I would try
this. If you are hitting the Send and Receive button to
send, go to Tools, Options, Mail Delivery, and make sure
the box is checked to send messages immediately. Then
after you write your message, just hit Send in the message
and it should send immediately without your hitting Send
and Receive.

Good Luck
