Default Value/Validation??

I have a table with several rates:
rateID Rate Current(Y/N)
Only one rate is current at any given time and I want to be sure if Current
equals yes that any other is deselected as current. Can this be done in the
table?

If not:
I have a form, with a subform that contains a combo box for the rateID and
want to be able to make whatever rate that is marked current to be the
default when I'm inputing jobs.

Use an Option Group for the Checkboxes; only one can be checked at any given
time.
