definition of word wrap

Hi Sanu,

Word wrap is when text entered automatically wraps to the next line to
fit instead of the user needing to press enter at the end of each line.

Is this something you are trying to do in Project?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

what is the definition of word wrap?

Sanu,
Just a follow-on to what Julie said. MS Project, (the focus of this
newsgroup), does not use the term "word wrap", although for column
headers the term "text wrapping" is used. In Project, word wrap occurs
with string based fields and only if there are spaces in the string.
Wrapping occurs in conjunction with the task row height. This parameter
can be either manually adjusted for each task row, (latest versions of
Project), or set for the whole view under View/Table/More Tables/Edit.
The Row Height setting is in the lower right section of the Table
definition window.

I know, probably more information than you wanted, but then again.....

Hi John,
I tried the steps you explained but realised that I have to set a row height
value. I assume this would affect all rows whereas I only want rows to
increase in height to allow text to wrap-round. Any suggestions how I can do
this? Thanks!

Melissa,
There are two ways to set the row height. Globally by either selecting
all tasks and then dragging the row separator for the first row, or by
setting the row height parameter under Views/Table/More Tables/Edit.

If you have Project 2000 or later you can selectively adjust row heights
for individual rows by dragging the row separator of the row(s) you wish
to alter.

Hope this helps.

Hi John,
I apologise for not explaining clearly what I would like to do. I don't
want all rows to have the same height nor do I want to manually adjust rows
to allow text to wrap round. I'm just wondering if there's a function
similar to excel where the row height will auto increase if I type more text
than will fit on one line. Also, if I manually decrease/ increase the column
width by dragging, I would like the row height to auto adjust itself.
I'm not very good in explaining this so pls accept my apologies...

Melissa,
No apology necessary. Unfortunately Project will not function the way
you want. Excel has its strong points and Project has its strong points.
Although Excel is primarily a spreadsheet application it does have
better text handling functionality than Project but it does have
drawback also. For example, did you know that Excel will not word wrap
after 1024 characters in the text string? To do so requires VBA.

Not the answer you wanted, but hopefully I answered your question this
time.
