I am new to outlook I use a lot of distribution list.
When I delete a name and email from my contacts it does not delete out of
the distribution list.
How do I keep my list updated.

You can't. You can try the Update now button, but it hardly ever works.
Most of us no longer use DL's because they are so buggy.

OK, so what do you use!
I send emails to different groups
too time consuming to select each name.

Many people use categories. By assigning the same category to related
contacts, you can send mail using the category.

Categories or separate Contact subfolders, depending on your needs.
