Delete attachment from local and server message?

R

Richard Carver

Is it possible to delete an attachment from a POP3 downloaded message
and have the attachment deleted from the message on the server too? I
don't want the message delete from the server, just the attachment. I
was told that it was possible with Entourage X but I only see an
option to delete the whole message from the server if the local
message is deleted.

Thanks.

No, it's not possible. In fact you can't even do it for IMAP messages
(although it _looks_ as if you're deleting the attachment, it's only being
deleted form the local cache, not the server). You could mark the message to
be deleted from the server at the next connection, then redirect the message
from which you have removed the attachment back to yourself, which will get
it back up to the server again (and a duplicate download on this computer)
but without the attachment.
