Delete footnotes

P

Paul

Hello -

My terminology may be incorrect.

I am using MS-Word 2003 and Windows Vista (sob)

When I rip some text off a web page there are sometimes footnotes, like:

"... and Harold McMillan [12] wrote to the labour leader [14] something or
other ..."

I have a macro to get rid of hyperlinks but can find nothing to get rid of
what I am calling footnotes - the [12] and [14] above.

If anyone has a suggestion I would love to see it.
I have toyed with this off and on for a couple of years and can't figure it
out.
What I have been doing is just highlighting them and hitting the delete key.

Thanks,
Paul

I don't know what they are either, but maybe you could just search the text
for the pattern and replace with nothing:

Sub ScratchMacro()
Dim oRng As Word.Range
Set oRng = ActiveDocument.Range
With oRng.Find
.Text = "\[[0-9]{1,}\] "
.Replacement.Text = ""
.MatchWildcards = True
.Execute Replace:=wdReplaceAll
End With
End Sub

Thanks for the help, but that macro didn't work.
It is similar to things I have tried without success.
