I have read the posts here about IMAP problems, specifically the duplicate
messages and deleted messages problems. I have a BIG problem on my own and
wanted to bring it to the community's attention, in the hopes that MS is
reading this and hopefully fix it in a future update.
I am running Office 2004, ran Office X before without any issues.
I have 3 IMAP accounts, one with .Mac and the other two with a server that
runs Merak email software.
Everything works fine with the .Mac account, but it seems that when
Entourage talks to the Merak server, something does not work right.
Here is what happens: I delete a message in the inbox, it disappears. So
far so good. I minimize Entourage, and come back to it a bit later, and the
message is back in the Inbox, bold as if it was never read! This happens
constantly. Then, I tried deleting a message and immediately exiting
Entourage to see if the message actually was deleted off the server. I
opened Apple mail and sure enough the message was still there, so it was
never "officially" deleted from the server, or so it seems.
I tried emptying cache, purging deleted items and trying every combination
of changing the "delete options" under the advanced options tab, nothing
really fixes this problem. Incidentally, I do NOT have this problem with
Apple Mail, Thunderbird or any other mail client, only Entourage is refusing
to delete deleted messages from this server.
If anyone has any further tips, please reply and let me know what I could
try. It is a maddening problem, and forced me to go back to Apple Mail for
obvious reasons.
