How do I set this folder up to periodically empty - Say once a day.
It's also sending an error message saying it needs to be unlocked !?!?!

I see you have a Hotmail account. If you're referring to the Hotmail Deleted
Items folder, you can't do this. You have to wait for the Hotmail
maintenance schedule to come along and clean up. I gather that takes a
while.

On Exchange, the same, except that it will get cleaned up much faster.

If you have an IMAP account and set up a Deleted Items folder on the IMAP
server, you can set doing exactly that in the "Advanced" pane of the Account
settings (Tools/Accounts/Mail).

If you're asking about the local Deleted Items folder "On My Computer", you
can modify the "Empty Deleted Items Folder" schedule in Tools/Schedules to
do just that.
