Deleted Messages Periodically Reappear in my Inbox

Every so many days some, but not all, of my deleted messages reappear
in my inbox. What is happening and how can I stop it? On my Accounts

Edit Accounts > Options I had the boxes checked to retain mail on the server for 180 days. I unchecked these boxes, but the messages continue to reappear.

This is happening to the one secondary account. The primary account
does not act this way.

Any help will be appreciated.
