Deleted User Account - please help!

Hello

I think I've done something very stupid and I am hoping that I haven't
lost all my emails from the last three years.

I have recently changed account numbers with my ISP which meant that I
had to update Entourage with my new log-in details. I went to Switch
User to create a new user identity. I'm not sure how I managed it, but
I deleted the old user profile (Main identity) completely. I have
already searched on some of the topics on here, and so I went into my
Documents file, then Office X Identities. The only file in there is the
new account I set up, and this appears to be completely empty.

I haven't backed up my hard drive so I suspect this means that I have
lost everything. But if there's anywhere you could suggest that the
data might have been stored, I would be grateful if you could advise.

Many thanks in advance.

In the future if you change ISPs, just change account info. You do not need
to set up a new Identity.

When you created the new Identity, did you name it the same as your old
Identity? I've never tried renaming the same nor do I remember seeing
reports, but I would think you would get a warning "do you want to replace".
If Entourage replaced the Identity, it's gone. A third party application
like Data Rescue might be able to find it, but you need to use it before the
data is written over.

When you create a new Identity, Entourage stores it in the same Office X
Identities folder. Check to see if you have another " Office X Identities"
folder on your HD. Also check the trash.

OK, thanks.

Hi, I didn't name it the same but I think I hit the delete button
instead of the new button. There's definitely only one profile in
Office X and that's the new one which is empty. Is it too late to try
and use Data Rescue? I haven't yet used the new profile. There's
nothing in the trash either.

Thanks again.

I believe they have a trial period so definitely give it a go. Let us know
how it works out.
