Deleting Contacts

Does anyone know how to delete all of your contacts in Entourage? I dropped all of them in the trash and it seemed to work but then when I rebooted the program they all were there again.

Edit > Select All
Keyboard > Delete

I would think doing that would export them all as VCFs - to the trash.
