Deleting old database after compacting?

Hi,

Is there any reason not to delete the backed up database created after
compacting in Entourage 2004? At this point I could save nearly a gig of HD
space if I did so.

Give it a few days to make sure that the new database is working okay.

Personally, I keep pre-compacted databases for a while as backups.
