Deleting Projects without Deleting Files

Anyone know how to get projects off of the project list without deleting the
email messages or files in their original locations? I¹d still like access
to my email messages, but I don¹t want a completed project to show on the
project list‹the list gets too darn long. Thanks, in advance, for any
advice.
