Deleting shared task reminders

I have a question that I don't know if it is just pie in the sky wishful
thinking or something Outlook is capable of:

A group of employees share a task folder. I can set it up so all of the
people with access to the folder get the reminder of when a task is due (by
setting that folder as their primary folder), but I couldn't figure out how
to automatically dismiss reminders on everyone's screen once one person opens
the task-- which I want to do because only one person needs to address the
task.

Anyone have suggestions on how to do this?
