Deletion of email in Entourage 2008

Is there a way to get Entourage to delete email from top to bottom like it
does in Outlook 2003 and 2007 instead of bottom to top? It's a bit
annoying.

Thanks,
Wyman

A lot depends on the view you are using. There are shortcuts that go to the
next unread message. In 3 pane view you can just use the space bar to go to
the next message. In preferences you can select how long before a message is
marked as read.

OPTION+COMMAND (Apple)+[ Delete the current message and display the
previous message.

====
OPTION+Command (Apple)+] Delete the current message and display the next
message.

====
CTRL+OPTION+[ Delete the current message and display the previous unread
message.

====
CTRL+OPTION+] Delete the current message and display the next unread
Message.

Hope this helps!

Hi Diane - I'm not sure I know what you mean by "3 pane view". I do have
the preview pane enabled to show the email at the bottom. When I hit the
spacebar to go to the next message, nothing happens.

I see all the shortcuts you provides require deleting the message. What if
I don't want to delete it?

Thanks.
Wyman

Hi Diane - I'm not sure I know what you mean by "3 pane view". I do have

Preview Pane is the old way of viewing. Starting with Entourage 2004 you can
use "3 pane view". <http://tinyurl.com/434op9> Check out the custom
arrangements on the page too. You'll find this view has more flexibility
than preview pane below.

I use the space bar to view messages. I often will not delete until I have
finished a folder, then I select all and delete or nuke (especially if it's
spam).

You can also use the arrow down/up to go to next message.

Nuke Messages:

I see all the shortcuts you provides require deleting the message. What if
I don't want to delete it?

Well, your question was about deleting.

You can select to view unread only so the message will seem to disappear
after reading if you have this option selected under View.

Ok how can I get the space bar to go to the next message? It's not working
when I do it. What it does is scroll through the selected message.

Press space bar again once you've scrolled to the bottom of a message.
Entourage will move to the next unread message.

Thanks Ed! I was under the assumption that hitting the space bar would jump to the next message without scrolling through the current message. I got it now.
