Delivery confirmation

M

Michel G?linas

Hi,

I check this news group for any tips regarding delivery confirmation
with Entourage (I'm using the 10.1.0. for Mac, in french). I know that
I should read the faq answer #130
(http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq/faqs.html#Anchor-130) but after
several attemps, I never reached this page. (Connecton failed). Maybe
the adress has been change...

Somebody suggest that we can modify the account by adding an header.
But since I don't need all my sent messages to be confirmed I found
rather odd to have a second account with the second header asking for
delevery notice. It's so simple with Outlook that I use at work (on
Windows). I'm woundering why it's not possible on Entourage on Mac.

Thanks

Michel

Here it is pasted from that page:

130) How can I request a return receipt from sent mails?

€ Go to Tools -> Accounts.
€ Under the Mail tab, edit the mail account you want to send from.
€ Click the Options tab. (Note to Exchange Server users: Click the
Mail tab, not Options tab)
€ Under "Additional Headers", add in a new header:
Disposition-Notification-To
€ Under Value, type your e-mail address.

Is there an option to select specific emails you want a return receipt for,
rather than one global setting?

"Yes, Your best bet is to create a normal (POP) account setup (named
descriptively) which is exactly the same as your regular one except omitting
the "Receive Mail" entries and adding the "Return Receipt" header as
described above. Remember to remove the Return Receipt header from your
default account. You can then choose to send from this account when you want
to request a return receipt rather than adding and deleting the header
repeatedly

Note that this will only request a return receipt. While some clients can
and will carry out the request, others will prompt the user and they can
choose not to send it back, and still other clients like Entourage ignore
the request completely, so it should not be assumed that no receipt means a
recipient didn¹t receive the message.

The address has not changed. Here is FAQ 130. Please read the Note at the
end carefully.
