Demographic maps?

Hey all,

Is there a tool or suggestion to getting a map of the US and then have
various dots represent multiple cities all over the US. Basically one dot ata
atime and quickly fil in the locations. Maybe from data in a exel spread
sheet and then convert it to the specific locations on the map. Make sense?
Any help would be appreciated.
