Designing Custom Mail View in Entourage 2004?

I would like to design a custom mail view in Entourage 2004 with the
following criteria:

1) Shows messages from both my local inbox and IMAP (.Mac) inbox
2) Does not show junk mail
3) Does not show sent messages from any account
4) Does not show messages that have been deleted from the inboxes

I can't figure out how to do this. The best I can do is create a view
with the first criteria only. This is what I did:

1) Folder is: INBOX (.Mac)
2) Folder is: inbox (local)

Even though it seems the criteria above only would include messages in
the inboxes, I still see sent messages appear when I click on the
custom view. Junk mail is still there. And I see messages in the
list that I have deleted in from the inboxes. Why is that? And how
can I change it?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Although it is impossible in Entourage to have a single custom view to
handle both "if ANY criteria are met (your item 1) and "if ALL criteria are
met" (your items 1-4) simultaneously, it's not necessary here;

2) Take care of junk mail by creating Junk E-mail folders if you don't
already have them, which you should. You should have a local Junk E-mail
folder already. For your .Mac IMAP account, if you don't have one, make one.
Then in Tools/Accounts/Mail/.Mac, click Advanced page and check "Store Junk
E-mail in this folder" and navigate to the Junk E-mail folder on the .Mac
server. Now go to Tools/Junk Mail Protection and set Protection Level to
High.

Now 99% of junk mail - anything the Junk Mail Filter perceives to be Junk -
goes to those Junk E-mail folders and not to your inboxes. So that takes
care of that. (And if you select any mail in that 1% that makes it into your
inboxes and then click the Junk button, they scoot off to the Junk folders
by themselves, in 2004.)

3) No message in your inboxes should _ever_ show Sent Messages. In
Entourage/Preferences/Compose, check "Save copies of sent messages in the
Sent Items folder", and back in Tools/Accounts/Mail/.Mac/Advanced, make sure
that "Store sent messages" is sent to the .Mac Sent Messages folder.

4) In that same Tools/Accounts/Mail/.Mac/Advanced page, check "Move Message
to this Deleted Items folder" and select the Deleted Messages folder on the
..Mac server. (If you don't see any of these, click on the Ma server icon,
click the relevant folders , then click Subscribe button. Then go back.)
WTH, while you're there set up a server Drafts folder too.

OK, all those are taken care of, Now you just nee to make your custom view

If ANY criteria are met

Folder is: INBOX (.Mac)
Folder is: inbox (local)

Done.

Wow, thank you so much for your reply below.

Strangely enough, everything you suggested is already in place. Each
preference was already correctly set.

2) both the local and IMAP accounts are pointing junk mail to the
proper folders. I did set protection to high, from low.
3) sent messages from both accounts are set up to be stored in the
respective "sent" folders
4) deleted messages from both accounts are set up to be stored in the
respective "deleted messages" folders

Hmmm... it seems everything is set properly, yet I am still having the
same problems. Is there some way to "reset" Entourage? I'm not sure
where to go from here.

Thanks again for your help.

Rebuild the database. See Help for more info.
