Desktop Alerts and Notes Connector

I'm running Outlook 2003 using the Notes Connector add-in. It seems to be
running fine with the exception that desktop alerts do not appear when
messages arrive in my Notes inbox. Rules also don't seem to work on the
Notes inbox. Any idea on how I can get desktop alerts to work?
