dial up connection settings

Hello, I am having a problem getting Microsoft Outlook to
dial my modem automatically. I can get Outlook to dial
out automatically every time it checks mail as I want it
to, but it disconnects after each check, which I don't
want. I can change the settings to stay connected after
checking, but then it won't dial out automatically the
first time I launch the program. I want it to do both,
dial out upon launching and stay connected after checking
mail.

Any ideas?
