Difference between Delete Account and New Identity?

I am running Entourage Exchange Web Services, latest version, with
Exchange Server 2010. For an obscure technical reason, I need to do a
fresh download of all mail from the server.

One way to do this is to create a new identity. What about "Delete
Account..." What exactly does that do? Can I choose "Delete Account"
and then just add a new account with the same settings? This would
save the trouble of re-entering all my general Entourage preferences.
I of course do not want the mail deleted from the server, only
locally, so it can be downloaded again. Thank you for any help.

You can delete the account and create it again to maintain your
Entourage preferences. The only reason you would create a new identity
is if you want to start a new Database file. You would do this mostly if
you suspect corruption or are having a strange, unresolvable problem.

Hope this helps!
