Disable "select entire word"

This really gets on my nerves. Entourage doesn't let me select the first
letter of a word, it selects the entire word as if it knows what I want.

How do I disable this typically Microsoft-esque misfeature so I can once
again select text?

Would you think this might be a preference? Check General
Preferences/General. The third one down is:

When selecting, automatically select entire word

And the second one is:

Use Microsoft Office keyboard shortcuts when editing text


You can turn them both off.

I'm in Entourage 2001, OS 9.1. Try Edit --> Preferences --> General.
De-select the option that selects the entire word when clicking. Cinchy.
