Disabling "Do you want to merge changes in..." Word XP

Rory

Hi,

Is there a way to disable the "Do you want to merge changes in ..." dialog
box that continually pops up in Word XP when a document is opened that is
stored on the network? I have read on numerous web sites, blogs etc, that
this can be disabled in through a registry edit by adding the key
NoPromptForkDocuments (REG_DWORD) with a value of 1 in
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Word\Options but this doesn't seem to
work. Is there a GUI based setting that I might have enabled in
Tools|Options that would cause this behaviour?

TIA

Rory

This is caused by emailing the documents from Outlook.

Take a look at this article for more information:

"Do you want to Merge Changes?"
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMArticle.asp?ID=107

Make sure you read the Update at the bottom as it provides information
on how to clear the internal list of documents by deleting a file
called AdHoc.rcd.
