Disabling Internet Connect

R

Richard Hess

I have an i-Mac that is running on a cable modem. I recently
installed Office. When I wake the computer from sleep mode Internet
Connect runs, then informs me that I have no dial-up connection. And
I don't, of course, as I'm running on a cable modem.

After that initial message the mail is downloaded to Entourage and
everything is fine. How do I "turn off" the Internet Connect feature?
It did not run when I used Apple Mail, and it does not run when I use
a browser like Safari or IE.

I'm new to Apple, so help me out, please. Thanks!

Go to the Apple menu, select System Preferences
Click Network
Click the Show popup, choose Network Port Configurations
Uncheck all the ports except for the one you use for the cable modem (likely
that is the Ethernet port).
Apply Now

Let us know if that doesn't work.
