disappearing e-mail

I'm new to Macs and after having used PC's this is a bit confusing.

My G4 uses Entourage 2001 and I changed the name on one of the major
folders. Well the name spiraled into a whole bunch of problems. The
outgoing mail stopped working and when I restarted to see if that
would work once all the account settings were checked, all of my e-
mails disappeared. Only shows one main user the administrator but the
the HD under users all the names appear. I know I may sound as though
I am rambling, but I'm not sure where to proceed from here. Any one
understand my mistake???

Which folder did you change the name of? Microsoft User Data? If you
changed the name of this folder, then Entourage will create another
MSuserdata folder and all your email will appear gone.

If this is what you did, delete the 2nd Microsoft User Data Ÿ and change
the name of the renamed Ÿ back to the original. you may have to rebuild
the database before it will work correctly. hold the option key down
while starting Entourage.

hopes this helps.

Which folder did you change the name of? Microsoft User Data? If you
changed the name of this folder, then Entourage will create another
MSuserdata folder and all your email will appear gone.

If this is what you did, delete the 2nd Microsoft User Data ü and change
the name of the renamed ü back to the original. you may have to rebuild
the database before it will work correctly. hold the option key down
while starting Entourage.

If it¹s a file inside the Microsoft User Data folder, then rename the
Microsoft User Data folder as Old Microsoft User Data. Let Entourage create
a new blank one and you can see what all of the files are supposed to be
named. Fix the ones you renamed then remove Old and the new MUD folder and
you should be back in business.

If it¹s a file inside the Microsoft User Data folder, then

Quit all office apps first, including messenger.
rename the
Microsoft User Data folder as Old Microsoft User Data. Let Entourage create
a new blank one

This will happen automatically when you restart entourage
