Disappearing messages in Inbox

First of all, I have not checked 'Show Unread' or 'Show flagged'.
Twice on the same machine, messages have disappeared from the Inbox. As
new mail comes in, I can see it, just not any messages that have
disappeared. The folders stay intact. From what I can tell, the size of the
mail database is still the same as it was before the messages disappeared. Is
there a way to recover the lost mail?

I have also rebuilt my mailbox using the advanced rebuild. Thanks in

I may have this same problem, in my case it's happened twice and the
folder has shown 1 unread message, but the message does not appear in
the list. If I use OWA (we use Exchange server) I can see the
message, I can also see it from Outlook on Windows, but Entourage
doesn't let me see it.

Is there anyway to "refresh" the view?

Advanced rebuild should have taken care of the problem. You could try
dragging the Inbox folder to the desktop. This creates an MBOX file with
your messages. Now delete all the messages in the Inbox. Rebuild your
database then drag the MBOX back into the folder list.

Let me know how this works.

That's a different issue - for an new message that's not yet visible. Try
command-L ("Refresh Message List" in View menu) as for any IMAP account,
since Exchange is treated as IMAP in Entourage. If that doesn't change
anything, try the (undocumented) command-option-L, which "repairs" the list.
That usually works.

I have been having a similar problem:

I am using Entourage X on a G5:

Today when I opened Entourage ALL of my emails in my inbox, sent,
deleted and trash were gone completely. Also all my addresses/contacts
were gone.

I went to the Microsoft site and did the "rebuild" thing to rebuild the
database. That didn't do anything, so I tried the "advanced rebuild"
with the same result.

I also checked the trash.... nothing in there looking like email
messages or databases. I have no idea where else to look or what else
to try.

I'm pretty upset since I really need my emails and addresses. Some of
the addresses are nowhere else, only in the emails.

A related topic would be, how do I back up my emails and addresses?

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
