Discussion form Handler Options

Hello,

I am wondering if their is a way to log in a file anyone who posts to a
FP2000 discussion board. We need to have all available info know (like IP)
but I don't what that shown on the actually browse-able posts, just the
name, etc.

Alternatively, I would also be happy if it could just put the info (IP)
hidden as an HTML comment, inside each post.

Our board allows annon. posting (no name given), but we need to have the
ability to tell who (via IP and/or other available fields) posted it, in
case their is a threat/harassment/etc.

Thanks!

The problem you're going to have with this is that IP addresses are dynamic.

Example:
Aunt Matilda in Maitland, Florida turns on her computer and logs on to Earthlink to check her email
and stops by your discussion web and posts a comment, then shuts down.

20 minutes later Frustrated Freddie from Fernandina Beach fires up his machine and logs into
Earthlink to check his mail and stop by and "flame" your discussion web. It's highly possible that
"Frustrated Freddie" could be assigned the same IP address that aunt Matilda was using 20 minutes
earlier.

Additionally, AOL uses "Proxy" servers and it's quite possible you could have several post from an
AOL server all using the same IP address.

Your best bet is to just check the server logs.

Actually, this is an internal site used on our intranet, so that does not
concern me.

Thanks anyways!

Does anyone else know of a way I can log IP's or at least keep them hidden
from plain site?
