Disk Full @ 4gb - Now what?

P

Philip

I have read all the reasons why OS X Mac Entourage reaches it 4gb
limit, how do I resolve it?. I have many recent e-mails that are
caught up in Entourage that I need.

I have performed typical and advanced rebuilds and get the same
error....insufficient disk space available.

Now what?....I tried dragging and dropping the db into a new session
of MS Entourage but nothing !

HELP !

Thanks

Did Entourage remind you that you were reaching your limit?

If not, then the disk space could be available disk space on your drive. As
part of the rebuilding process, Entourage creates a second database file.

Find the size of your database, use Get Info (Command + I).

Make sure you have enough hard disk space available for twice that amount.

Diane,

Ihave 30gb available but it still tells me that the space is not available.

I would appreciate if you could contact me via e-mail.

Is it possible that you have a set up where the MUD folder is on a different
partition to the startup drive? You will continue to get this message if the
startup drive is nearly full, now matter how much space you have on the
partition that actually holds your data.

I don't know of any way round this problem.

Diane,

Ihave 30gb available but it still tells me that the space is not available.

Do a Get Info on your database. It's located in your Microsoft User Data
folder inside the Documents folder. What is the size? I'm wondering if the
space is not available in Entourage because of the 4GB limit, or if it's
your hd.

I forget now, but can you open Entourage? If you can open you can reduce the
size by deleting mail and ng caches.
I would appreciate if you could contact me via e-mail.
If it appears this is something that can only be solved one on one, then
we'll take it off list, but generally most users can learn from the
questions so let's keep it on list for now.

Diane,

I cannot access the db since it has reached it's limit of 4gb. My
drive is 60gb with 30gb available. I cannot eliminate the junk mail
since MS Entourage will not let me in.

Any other suggestions......?

The limit of 4GB is with the Entourage database not your hard drives.
Although you must have room on your hd to rebuild as mentioned below.

I'm still not certain whether you are using Entourage X or Entourage 2001.
Did you get the warnings you were approaching the 4GB limit? If you are
using 2001 then did you try a rebuild and get the large db?
