Displaying Japanese in messages

Is there any plugin available to allow Entourage 2001 for a Mac using
OS9.2.2 to display kanji characters intact. As it is, only question marks
appear where the Japanese should be. I know this feature is available
through Microsoft for Outlook in the PC world.

Thanks,
Jack

Sounds like the original message many not have a proper character set
header. You can manually override this by choosing Message:Character Set
when viewing the message. Try one of the Japanese or Unicode entries.

Thanks, but the Message menu doesn't offer Character Set as a choice, even
with the message open. However, I did check the preferences and found the
language settings. Unfortunately, Neither setting, Unicode or Japanese,
transforms those question marks into Japanese characters.
Any more ideas would be much appreciated.

Sorry, it's in the Format menu.

Found it and tried all four settings for displaying Japanese, along with the
two Unicode settings. Both Unicode and two of the Japanese settings only
added small boxes other characters to the message, and one of the Japanese
settings had no effect...

It would really help to find a solution to this, so, again, thanks for any
more ideas you might have.
