Distribution list bonanza

Our company runs Outlook 2003 and Exchange Server 2003. We have distribution
lists in our global address list to propogate email to the various groups,
but now have to re-evaluate the whole process. Where can we find more
information about the different forms of distribution lists - i.e. global
address list versus public address folders versus contacts distribution lists.

It is our understanding that the "unfriendly" GAL distribution lists are the
only lists that get served by the exchange server, such as when an external
member of a list sends an email to the list.
