My correspondent is using a Mac and Office 98 for Mac. He creates Word
documents (according to Properties the doc is Word 97-200) and emails
them to a group of people. I'm using Windows XP Pro, Outlook XP
(2002)and NAV 2002. Using TweakOL, I've disabled the default
"Attachment security" as I need to receive all sorts of attachments.
Frequently, when I receive those attachments sent from my
correspondent, they're empty. His secretary can forward the same file
to me and I receive it ok. He said there's one other person who gets
empty attachments from him.
I've tried to open the attachments on my laptop with WinXP Home and
Outlook XP (2002) and Win98 with Outlook 2000 - empty.
So I sent the files back to him and they were empty when he received
them. He tried again with fresh files, opened them after attaching and
all was ok. When I received them, again they were empty! (The doc
file opened blank and WinZip gave me an error message that the hqx file
was empty). Some files come ok, some are empty.
Any idea where to even start looking for the root of this problem? Is
this something going on in Outlook? His outgoing server (doubtful
because there's only one other person who receives empty attachments
from him)? My incoming server (doubtful as all other attachments are
intact)? Word (although the file was empty in three different
installations and two different versions of Word)? NAV reports the
scan but no action on the files.
