document starts with wrong page number

I have a 150 page document in Word 2002. For some reason,
the page number starts at 2 although the page numbering
sequence says to begin at 1.
Help!

Hi mhs

Check the section start information for the first section from File > Page
setup. It should be 'Continuous' or 'New page' - an 'Even page' start could
have the effect you describe.
