Does Entourage/Exchange server tell sender I deleted his emailmessage?

I just got an email from someone saying this about an email they sent me:
Your message

To: Levin, Michael
Subject: ...
Sent: Fri, 27 Apr 2007 03:54:52 -0400

was deleted without being read on Fri, 27 Apr 2007 08:46:59 -0400

it happens to be wrong, but I'm concerned: does my Entourage/Exchange
server combo somehow tell senders whether their emails get read or not? If
so, how do I turn this off?

No. Exchange doesn't do this, and neither do Entourage or Outlook.
