Does synch services sync the database on two or more Macs?

I've just used sync services to sync my entourage calendar and tasks
with ical so that I can then use .mac syncing to have said events and
tasks on my laptop. I've been copying the entourage database file from
Mac to Mac when I want to do extended work on one or the other. Great
care is needed to make sure I haven't used both before copying the
database back. (Also office notifications has to be off or the database
won't replace the incumbent file).

It occured to me that I might be missing something. If I were to have
the two Macs both with Entourage's sync services enabled would the two
entourage databases sync directly with each other? I suspect not.

You guessed correctly. Because Entourage stores the info in a database you
cannot sync one database with another without rewriting the entire database.
