Windows Server 2003 AD domain, Exchange 2003, OL2003.
*One* user, and only when using *one* computer, is prompted for domain
credentials upon launching Outlook, as though the computer was not joined to
the domain. If she enters her credentials, OL works normally for the
remainder of the session. OL profile recreated. Tried all Exchange
authentication options. Unjoined/rejoined computer to domain. Nothing fixed.
If user logs on elsewhere (profiles roam), does not happen. If other users
log on at her computer, does not happen. Only happens when this specific
user uses this specific computer. Deleted local copy of user's profile and
let it download from profile share; did not help.
Background: Outlook 2003 install (via GPO) was botched somehow on this
machine. OL2003 did not work at all (for any user). Uninstall/reinstall of
Office 2003 did not fix, so I uninstalled Office 2003 by removing from GPO
scope, reinstalled Office XP, rescoped the computer so GPO would upgrade to
Office 2003 again. Credentials problem surfaced for the first time when OL
XP was reinstalled and continued with OL 2003 after 2nd, otherwise
successful upgrade. Detect and repair didn't fix.
