Double click event invoked when no double click has occurred

Setup: I have two subforms that are have a parent-child
relationship off a control value in one of them. I have a
double click event that brings up a calendar control for
date fields. There are date fields in the queries behind
both subforms.

Behavior: When I update or add data in one subform, then
click once in the other subform, the double click event is
invoked and a calendar control pops up. However, if I
first set the focus on a control in the main form after
updating one of the subforms, and then click once on the
other subform, the double click event is not invoked.

Question: Is this a bug in Access or is there something I
can do so that the double click is not invoked by the
action described above?
