How do I import the messages I have in Entourage 2004 to Entourage X?
I can't run the import feature in X because the latest version is not
an option. Also, in case you're wondering, the reason why I'm going
backwards is that I can't justify the expense at this time, even
though I prefer it over X.
If it's just messages you're concerned with, drag mail folders (and any
subfolders separately) to your desktop or a Finder folder. They will make
..mbox files there. When done, quit Entourage 2004 Test Drive. Open X. Drag
the folders into Entourage, where they will import as mail folders. In the
case of special folders like the Inbox, or any folder with the name of an
existing one, Entourage will add a "1" to the name. Go to each, select all
messages (select one, cmd-A) and press Move button or just drag the messages
to the correct folder. ("Move" will get rid of originals even if moving to
IMAP, Hotmail, etc. Dragging to non-local folder will require deletion of
originals.) When done, delete all the empty "1" folders.
If you have just a few new or modified contacts, events, tasks, notes, drag
each to desktop or Finder folder, then into Entourage X.
