Download .doc comes up as Picture Mgr. Can't open file? Help

After I've created a document using Word 2003 I send it as an attachmeent. I
alwasy copy myselft (Yahoo email address). When I go to see what I've sent I
download the document but when this happens it downloads to a Picture Manager
file thus cannot be seen in text format. Only the Microsoft Word icon. Can
you heop me.
What I;ve done to see the document is save it to my computer or Yahoo
briefcase. I can then see it but it does not solve the download problem.

check the file associations for the .doc file extension in the Folder
Options control panel | Click file Type Tab and Find .doc extension make
sure it is set to open with Word
