Does anyone know if there is a way to set Entourage 2004 to always
download the images in email? It is a pain to have to click download
images everytime.

Thanks

You can use Preferences:Security:Download images from my address book
contacts.
It requires that the senders is in your AB, but I think it's a safer way
to approach things (you don;t want auto-downlaod of all images in spam
for instance).

There is an unofficial way of doing this, provided that you use Entourage's
junk mail filter. IF you go to Tools>Junk E-mail Protection and switch to
the Safe Domains tab, you can specify domains which you know to be safe. Any
message coming from one of these domains will be displayed in its entirety,
without the user being forced to hit the download button. If you are
American, you could for instance add ".com", ".org" and ".net" (without the
quotation marks, separated by a comma and a space) to that list, as the vast
majority of your online correspondence is bound to be from these domains
(you can of course add other domains to that list as well, such as
".co.uk").

I would not recommend this method, as I think that the junk mail problem is
too serious to allow any message to be displayed without my explicit
permission; but if you really know what you are doing, go ahead.

I care for a very specific reason: many junk mail messages do not include
their own images, but only contain instructions to download them from a
remote server. Using that technique, spammers can tell that the account to
which they sent their junk messages is active, i.e. there is a person
reading them, which normally results in them sending more and more junk
mail. If Entourage blocks these messages from downloading pictures, the
spammer has no way of knowing whether the account is being used or not,
which, in some cases (I'm being *very* optimistic here), might result in
them not sending any further messages.

As far as I'm aware, you will need to use Entourage's junk mail filter for
the method I mentioned in an earlier post to work, sorry.
