Although I selected the option Automatically download pictures from my
adress book contacts.
I know the option, that it is only for known people, but I want to see
all pictures from any email.
How can I slove this problem?

A new security feature in Entourage 2004 blocks the display of pictures (and
other linked mail content) hosted on remote sites. Images can be loaded for
individual messages by clicking on the ŒDownload Pictures¹ link in the
yellow message status bar. This was a huge feature request from users that
found the all embracing ŒAll Pictures¹ or ŒNo Pictures¹ too limiting.

There is a setting in the security section of the preferences to
automatically download pictures from recipients who are in your address
book. That should suffice for most users. If you really want to download all
images from all sources, you can put ".com", ".net", ".org" etc to your list
of safe domains in the Junk Mail Protection dialog. Then, images from all
untrustworthy sources will be downloaded.

I'm not an Internet security guru, but it's my understanding that for
security reasons, enabling this automatically (i.e., for all emails) is NOT
an option right now. However, many people seem to want it, so who knows
whether MS will enable it in a future update.

However, I don't recommend it even it it makes the cut. It takes all of a
second to click on "Download pictures" and see them. Remember that some
spam services rely on delivery of certain graphics for their stealth
reporting and monitoring. Were you to enable this for every email you get,
you might very well end up getting a lot more spam than otherwise.

My recommendation is to grin, bear it and simply click on the Download
pictures link for emails from people not already in your approved lists.

It takes all of a second, but depending on the size of the picture, it can
take a lot longer than a second to download it.

I would prefer the ability for the picture to be automatically downloaded,
but for un-requested outgoing connections to be denied.

This "feature" seems like overkill to me. The workaround solution as well.
If the junk mail filter is active, the messages from the most untrustworthy
sources will be shunted to the trash anyway so it really doesn't seem like
much of an issue.

I subscribe to several emailed columns from The New York Times, for
instance, which are quite trustworthy and contain many images. Being obliged
to click "download pictures" every time may not be a lot of trouble but it's
certainly annoying. Especially since I've gone into my preferences and
checked the options for "view complex html" and "show attached pictures and
movies in messages".

Just my 2 cents...

Further to this -

After checking both of those options in the preferences, I was still seeing
red X's instead of images in my emails. But then I went into the address
book area of the program and when I returned to the mail portion those
options apparently kicked in.

So, my latest issue - which was, admittedly, a small one - has been
resolved.

I tried this.

They are still not downloading with pictures?

Do you have to include the quotation marks?
