Download POP e-mail again

I currently have Entourage 2004 configured to leave mail on the server. I
inadvertently deleted some messages from the Inbox. If these messages are
still on the mail server how can I force the Entourage 2004 client to
redownload the messages again?

redownload the messages again?

Go to Tools/Accounts/Mail/[that account]/Edit . Click on the Options tab.
Check the box that says "Allow inline access". Click OK to close.

Now you'll find a server icon with the name of your account in the Folders
list in the left column. Click on it.

You'll see all the messages still on the server. Shift-click the newest and
oldest message that you need to retrieve, to select all messages in between.

Now click the Move button in the toolbar (or Message/Move To-> and Choose
Folder if you you don't see the Inbox or folder you want in the list) and
choose the Inbox or folder to move to. They'll all be moved (actually
copied, as long as you still have "leave messages on the server") to the
folder.

Paul-

This does not work for me. I'm using Office 2004/Entourage 11.4.0.
Entourage is set to leave mail on server for 10 days. Entourage downloaded a
blank e-mail from John Doe. Same e-mail showed up as non-blank in my iPhone.
The same e-mail shows up as non-blank when I log into the mail server using
Safari rather than Entourage. I then deleted the blank message from John Doe
in Entourage, and tried your solution. John Doe's message re-appeared as
blank (and there was no "logging into server," etc. status in lower right of
the Entourage window as normally happens during a network operation). I
tried your solution on a different message (non-blank) with similar result.
It moved the existing message from the (default) Inbox to the folder I
designated, but did not create an additional/fresh copy from the source on
the mail server.

Any thoughts as to how I can get a non-blank copy of John Doe's e-mail
message to me into Entourage?

Thanks

-Bill

If you select the message and choose under View in the Menu bar View Source,
do you see the text? (note in Entourage 2008 it is under Message not View)

If you see the source, drag the email to the desktop and see if Apple Mail
can open it. If yes, then drag again from Mail to the desktop and back into
Entourage. What happens?

Can you forward this message using "forward as attachment" for testing?

Send me an email:

Diane-

Thanks for the reply. I'm not real interested in troubleshooting this
particular message (e.g., if we look at the source encoding etc. it reveals x
type corruption, etc.).

What I am interested in doing is downloading 1 or 2 messages--that have been
left on the POP sever--again. I know how to download ALL messages left on
the POP server again, but that's overkill. I only want 1 or 2 messages (for
example, I'd like to retrieve 2 messages that I inadvertently deleted in
Entourage, but that remain on the POP server). How do I do that?

Thanks.

Well, you could forward them to yourself since there are only a couple. Also
try marking them as Unread and make sure they are in the Inbox so Entourage
can access.
